With the Bruichladdich Octomore 12.2 Scottish Barley Islay Whisky, Head Distiller Adam Hannett succeeded in creating an extremely successful combination of sweet fruits and heavy peat smoke. After aging in American first-fill and second-fill whiskey casks, the peat chunk was refined in French first-fill Sauternes wine casks. The Islay Whiskey was bottled with a strong 57.3% volume percent and a peat content of 129.7 PPM. If you don’t like smoke and peat, you should stay away from this. For everyone else: The Octomore 12.2 Scottish Barley Islay Whiskey keeps its promises and is just waiting to turn your taste buds upside down.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe honeydew melon, smoked almonds, roasted oak, earthy smoke, fragrant orange peel, juicy peaches and malted grain open the nose. This is followed by spicy pine sap, agitated earth and dried apples.
Palate: Aromas of fruit preserved in syrup, tangy lemon peel, fine vanilla, intense orange blossoms, viscous toffee, a hint of cinnamon and some malt sweetness emerge on the palate. The spectacle is framed by opulent clouds of smoke
Finish: The impressively long-lasting finish presents salted lemons, intense earthy peat smoke and hints of oak.
