We offer a variety of wine, spirits, champagne, and rum here. Some options are distilled from sugarcane or molasses. In cane production, there are many stages including waiting for the plant to mature before it is ready to be harvested. The history of rum has a long tradition with pirates and sailors, but the Dutch have also played an important role over the years. American distillers have long been a part of its history too, even further back in the days.
Making rum is not as easy as getting sugarcane and then fermenting. Sugarcane must be cut, cooked, and squeezed juice, and the fermentation process has long delicate stages.
After distillation has been completed, you can remove free liquids and solids by-products that are still present in the process. The length of time it will take to accomplish this job varies depending on what your end goal is. Column still distillation makes low-quality drinks, while pot still distillation gives a richer final product. Distillation is done in a series of stills with each successive distillation adding ethanol and water vapor to the mixture. At the end of the process, distilled rum has a lower percentage of water than raw rum. Rums are typically aged in oak barrels for up to 3 years, but some are aged for much longer.
Rum takes time & effort to produce, giving you a quality product that’s worth your while. Unlike other types of liquor, rum sometimes mixes with caramel for flavor. The fermentation process begins with molasses, which is first boiled in water to create a thick syrup. The simmering syrup is laden with yeast and then gradually cooled on the drum of a still. The yeast then clumps into clusters called “kernels” that release alcohol as they ferment. The fermentation process is allowed to continue for about a week.
Rum is often classified as an alcoholic beverage, and most brands come in transparent liquid form. It is also known to have high alcohol content levels when consumed in some beers. This can cause side effects like vomiting or blurry vision and some people may be allergic to the specific type of yeast used to make it. It’s also been part of cultural customs and traditions for many countries, providing a major source of income for some populations. However, it is now widely manufactured and consumed all over the world. Rums are typically from the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and southern Europe. The most famous rums are those from the Caribbean.
Rum is a popular drink on most islands in the West Indies and the Maritimes. This beverage came about in 400 BC and was once associated with piracy, the Royal Navy, slavery & organized crime. Since then though, there have been other connections such as fixed matches
Alcohol is the most popular drink in the world. It’s also used in many drinks and desserts, as well as cakes. Rum has been around for a while and is often used to mix cocktails for desired flavor profiles.
Rum is made in more than 80 countries. It can be made with a variety of different fermentation, distillation, blending, and aging processes. About 95% of the rums that fall into one of these categories are distilled from sugarcane juice. Let’s take a look at some of the famous types of rums.
White rum is typically clear in color and has a lighter texture than dark or golden rum. It may be used in drinks that require less change of flavor intensity.
Over time, rums generally develop golden-amber hues and the flavors are usually richer. Rums of this color are common in drinks like daiquiris and rum punches
Dark rum had been popular in the Caribbean, but it was not until the turn of the century that it became quite popular due to its strong taste and aroma.
Black rums are the darkest, most prosperous, and most full-bodied rums. These rums have a powerful tropical flavor that can be used in various recipes for intricate flavor. This type of rum is often paired with other types of rum to create more robust and complex flavors.
Rum typically takes years to make, which means there’s still lots of flavor in it. The aging process can also produce a range of subtle flavors.
Rums are made from sugar cane and can be distilled into a sweet product with little color. One example of one is rum from the Caribbean, which is popular among local residents and tourists alike.
