Silver Reposado Tequila is laden with flavour but will smooth and mature over time, while Reposado has more bite to it and needs to be enjoyed young. Reposado tequila is made using only whole blue agave plants and is usually aged for just a few months before distillation, while silver tequila uses less expensive blue agave that have been cut open to make them. Tequila is known for its smooth, mellow taste and aged in oak barrels and has a vanilla like flavour. It’s great to sip on when you want something light but still have some flavor. The process for making tequila takes weeks to complete, while mezcal is made from the maguey plant and can be done in days or hours. Tequila must be distilled in a copper pot still. Blended tequilas are also not considered to be true tequila, as they don’t use the same ingredients & production process that a pure 100% blue agave tequila uses. Tequila may be served neat or mixed with other alcoholic beverages like cola or gin. It is traditionally served as an apéritif called the “nalguitas” (Spanish for “little booties”) and often diluted.
