Send Whiskey to Austria

Before you start sending your loved ones a fine bottle of Whiskey to Austria, let’s talk about the delicate process of making this one-of-a-kind beverage. Whiskey is a unique kind of spirit alcohol beverage produced from fermented grain mash. The production begins with malting or the stage where the barley that contains starch requires to be in the form of soluble sugars to produce the product.

As the malting stage passes, the malt is then added to warm water. This process is done to finely extract the soluble sugar and to produce the “mash” which is what distilleries used to call the mixture of malt and water. 

The mash will then be placed in a large container called a “mash tun”. The Mash Tun will stir the mixture for long hours, to let the sugar in the mal disintegrate and disappear. Once the sugar has completely disappeared, the mixture inside the Mash Tun will then be called “wort”. The wort will then be chilled, once chilled it will be transferred to the big tanks distilleries referred to as “washbacks”. Placing the wort into the washbacks also signifies the fermentation stage. The fermentation will typically take at least 48 hours until the fermented liquid completely turns into a “wash”.

The wash will then be distilled, and as for the last process, distilleries typically do the distillation a couple of times. Almost all distilleries distill the wash over three times. After the long and delicate process, the distilled wash will then be kept in oak barrels where they are stored in Scotland. 

It will take at least three years before the oak barrel-stored wash is recognized as whiskey.
